Lower carbon footprint for even greener products

Lower carbon footprint for even greener products As a company committed to environmental protection, we consider it important to reduce the use of non-renewable energy sources and emissions in line with the aspirations of the European Union.

With its products inspired by nature, Dr. Bata Zrt. Has been supporting healthy animal husbandry worldwide for thirty years and reducing the use of antibiotics through preventive good practices.

As a company committed to environmental protection, we consider it important to reduce the use of non-renewable energy sources and emissions in line with the aspirations of the European Union.

The European Union’s Green Deal initiative states that “climate change and environmental damage are an existential threat to Europe and the world. To address these challenges, the European Green Deal will transform the EU economy into a modern, resource-efficient and competitive economy.

It will ensure:

  • to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050;
  • that economic growth should be independent of resource use;
  • that neither individuals nor regions should be the losers in the transformation.

The European Green Deal aims to make Europe a climate-neutral continent by 2050. In order to make this target legally binding, the Commission has put forward a proposal for a European Climate Regulation, which also sets a new, ambitious target for greenhouse gas emissions: to reduce net emissions by at least 55% by 2030. compared to 1990 levels. "

From 2020, Dr. Bata Ltd.'s environmental awareness plan will cover three main segments, which are the reduction of carbon dioxide and nitrogen emissions and more sustainable waste management.

As a first step in achieving our goals, we have launched a number of plant optimization processes since 2020 to reduce CO2 emissions within our manufacturing processes.

Carbon dioxide is one of the highest concentrations (9-26%) of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. It is released into the atmosphere in larger quantities by burning fossil fuels (oil, natural gas, coal). Converted to carbon dioxide equivalent, we also determine the carbon footprint, which is an element of the ecological footprint. The carbon footprint shows how much greenhouse gas (GHG) is emitted indirectly and directly into the air as a result of a company’s activities or the life cycle of a product. Carbon emission translates to all greenhouse gas emissions. The larger the carbon footprint, the greater the impact on climate change.

Following the first step in Dr. Bata Ltd’s plant optimization processes, we found that compared to the 2019 base year, we reduced the carbon footprint (carbon dioxide) by 13.4% by 2020.

We hope that true to our plans, we will soon be able to report the introduction of more new environmentally conscious solutions.
